Division Activities: Publications

The Division of Biological Chemistry has maintained a close association with Biochemistry since this Journal’s founding in 1961. In addition there are many other Journals that publish work of interest to our members.

Biochemistry

ACS BiochemistryBiochemistry brings you the latest developments from the rapidly changing arena in which chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular and cell biology meet. Discover original research results that collectively shape our understanding of the mechanisms of biological phenomena. Biochemistry covers structure, function, and regulation of biologically active molecules; gene structure and expression; biochemical mechanisms; protein biosynthesis; protein folding; membrane structure-function relationships; bioenergetics; and immunochemistry.

ACS Chemical Biology

ACS BiochemistryACS Chemical Biology (ACS CB) fosters communication between biologists, chemists, and physicists, reaching out to an international scientific community exploring complex cellular processes using chemical, biological, and biophysical techniques. In addition to publishing RCB_cover.jpgCB_cover.jpgeviews and high impact original research in Letters and Articles, the journal features a number of sections (Spotlight, In Focus, and Point of View) designed to enhance readers’ understanding of chemical biology and broader scientific issues.

The Journal of Organic Chemistry

ACS JOCPublished bi-weekly in print, and continuously on the Web, The Journal of Organic Chemistry (JOC) welcomes original contributions of fundamental research in all branches of the theory and practice of organic and bioorganic chemistry. The Journal emphasizes the quality and originality of the work in order to satisfy the breadth of interest of its readers. JOC features full articles and notes as well as invited contributions from all the recipients of the annual national ACS awards in the field of organic chemistry. JOC leads the ACS Family of Organic Chemistry Journals as #1 in total citations in the ISI’s Organic Chemistry Category. Submissions of imaginative artwork highlighting published research for consideration as cover art is strongly encouraged.

Bioorganic Chemistry

Bioorganic ChemistryBioorganic Chemistry publishes accounts of research that are at the interface of chemistry and biology. The guiding principle followed in accepting manuscripts for publication is that the research either uses the principles and techniques of organic chemistry in attempting to solve some problem relevant to biology or describes chemical studies that are inspired by a biological observation. Manuscripts suitable for submission will deal with topics such as enzymology, enzyme models, biosynthesis, bio-mimetic synthesis, molecular recognition, protein and peptide chemistry, nucleic acid chemistry (including ribozymes and anti-sense strategies), immunology (including catalytic antibodies), biosensors, the design and synthesis of therapeutics, proteomics, and genomics.

RSC Publications

Journals from the Royal Society of Chemistry, Britain are recognized as the fastest in the field, some papers having been published within a day of receipt, including full peer review and editing. This is made possible by a dedicated, professional staff, and truly innovative electronic workflow systems. The Royal Society of Chemistry offers the following Journals that are of interest to our members.

RSC Chemical Biology

Chemical BiologyChemical Biology is an exciting news service which draws together coverage from all RSC publications, providing an overview of the latest developments in chemical biology. Contents include: Research News (including research highlights, essential elements, instant insights and interviews) and Research Articles (a comprehensive point of access to chemical biology content from all RSC journals). Published monthly, with news published online every week, Chemical Biology is freely available online.

Molecular BioSystems

Molecular BioSystemsA new high quality chemical biology journal with a particular focus on the interface between chemistry and the -omic sciences and systems biology. The main research areas covered by Molecular BioSystems include chemical biology, systems biology, proteomics and genomics, cellular processes and metabolism. Launched in 2005, the journal offers a wide range of article types: communications, papers, methods, tutorial reviews, reviews, highlights and opinions.

Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry

Organic & Biomolecular ChemistryOrganic & Biomolecular Chemistry brings together molecular design, synthesis, structure, function and reactivity in one journal. It publishes fundamental work on synthetic, physical and biomolecular organic chemistry as well as all organic aspects of: chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, natural product chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, macromolecular chemistry, theoretical chemistry, and catalysis.

Chemical Communications

Chemical CommunicationsChemical Communications is renowned as the fastest publisher of articles providing information on new avenues of research, drawn from all the world’s major areas of chemical research. Now published weekly, ChemComm publishes an impressive array of chemical biology papers.

Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences

Molecular BioSystemsPhotochemical & Photobiological Sciences meets the growing information needs of scientists working in the areas of photochemistry and photobiology, and indeed, encourages a synergism between these two important research areas. This international journal is the official publication of the European Photochemistry Association (EPA), the European Society for Photobiology (ESP), the Korean Society of Photoscience and the Asia and Oceania Society for Photobiology.
